3G SERIES ENHANCEMENTS
Features Outline

1. POWER ON REGISTRATION (Requires ST-510, ST-510LT or ST-310):
A few seconds after power up, a radio will look for a free channel and automatically, send a data packet to the site. Upon receipt of this message, the system looks at the user database and checks for any group or sub-group communication in progress, which should involve this radio. If this is the case, the system will move the radio to the channel where the applicable communication is taking place. If there is no call in progress, the system then checks the voice mail status and/or call forwarding service that may be active. It will then send a voice announcement with the quantity of messages that have been recorded or any call forwarding information for that radio.

2. AUTOMATIC ROAMING REGISTRATION (Requires ST-510, ST-510LT or ST-310):
When a user moves to a new network site, the radio automatically registers at the new site. If a call is made to that user, the ST-510 looks for the user on a free channel at the new site only. This makes for better resource usage and avoids wasted airtime at sites where the user is not located.

3. RADIO CALLER ID (Available in ST-853 only systems as well as ST-510/ST-510LT/ST-310 systems):
When an individual call is made to a radio, the display on the radio (if so equipped) will show the unit ID of the user who is calling or the group ID if it is receiving a group call. At the present time, this feature does not work with incoming landline calls. The unit IDs of the last 10 calls received are stored and can be scrolled via a radio function switch assigned to this function. Scrolling to the desired unit ID followed by PTT activation can be used to return a call.

4. CALLER ID SCROLLING (Available in ST-853 only systems as well as ST-510/ST-510LT/ST-310 systems)
(May not be available for some models):

Ability to scroll through a stack of the IDs of the last 10 calls received. Scrolling starts with the most recent call received. Once the desired ID is displayed the user may return the call with a simple PTT. When the stack is full, the oldest call is deleted to make room for the latest call at the top of the stack.

5. ALPHA NUMERIC DISPLAY (Available in ST-853 only systems as well as ST-510/ST-510LT/ST-310 systems) (May not be available for some models):
Groups selected and speed or turbo dial numbers can display alphanumerically.

6. VIRTUAL (DYNAMIC) REGROUPING USING A SINGLE CHANNEL (Requires ST-510 or ST-510LT):
The dynamic regrouping service is available through the optional dispatch console software (which can run on a stand alone or networked PC). Dynamic Regrouping can join individual users and/or groups into a virtual temporary group as determined by the dispatch console operator. Virtual groups can be convened "on the fly" by the console operator, or pre-programmed to a console screen button. All the users or groups are joined on the same conference channel. In case of multi-site regrouping, the system uses one channel at each site.

7. LATE TO JOIN (Requires ST-510, ST-510LT or ST-310):
If a user is busy on another call, and a group (or sub group) call originates on another channel, the system will move the "late to join" user to the group call in progress whenever that user completes his other call. If the user was powered off when the group call started, and powers on the radio while the group call is still on the air, that radio will also be merged automatically to the group call in progress.

8. LOST RADIO RE-JOIN (Requires ST-510 or ST-510LT):
If a user that is involved in a group call enters a "shadow" area (area of no radio coverage), the radio of course will miss the call while the user is out of range. Realizing this, the user can easily rejoin the group by pressing PTT as the radio re-enters radio coverage area.

9. SECURE SPEECH (Available in ST-853 only systems as well as ST-510/ST-510LT/ST-310 systems)
(May not be available for some radio models):

The new 3G family of logic boards support voice inversion encryption for secure speech. This feature can be enabled or disabled by the user once the call is established. This feature is presently not available for landline calls.

10. CONVENTIONAL CHANNEL SCANNING (Requires ST-510, ST-510LT or ST-310):
Allows a SmarTrunk radio to scan and communicate on a conventional channel outside of the SmarTrunk trunking system channels. This mode provides the user with conventional talk-around for when out of range of the trunking system, or to bypass the trunking system for certain modes of operation. It can also be used for monitoring or operating on a conventional repeater or simplex system.
